The Risen Lord appeared many times to many people. He appeared to a small group of women and to more than five hundred men at one time. He appeared for a third time to His disciples at the Sea of Galilee and there He restored Peter to his position of leadership. Jesus appeared to His lost brother James and brought him to faith. Forty days after His resurrection, Jesus gathered His followers: He explained, “All authority has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations. Baptize them and teach them to follow me.” But Jesus told them to first wait in Jerusalem for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Then, as His followers looked on, Jesus ascended from earth to heaven until a cloud received Him out of their sight. Jesus Christ is now sitting at the right hand of His Father.
