Bruised and bleeding, Jesus carried His own cross along the road to Calvary Hill. He carried the cross for me and He carried the cross for you. Roman Soldiers nailed the hands and feet of Jesus to the cross. Two thieves were crucified with Jesus – one to His left and one to His right. From the cross Jesus spoke seven times. In anguish He shouted, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” In need He spoke, “I thirst”. In compassion He said, “Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they are doing”. He told one of the thieves, “Today you will be with me in Paradise”. He spoke to His disciple John saying, “Behold your mother” and to His mother “Behold your Son”. When His life was nearly spent, Jesus said “Father, into Your hands I give my spirit”, and His last words were, “It is finished”.
