On the day before the Passover, Jesus desired to share one final meal with His twelve followers. He knew that His hour had come and that He would soon face betrayal, trial, and death. Jesus shared this last supper in a private upper room. While they were eating, Jesus took the bread and after He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is my body, given to you. Take and eat.” In the same way Jesus took the cup of wine and said, “This cup, poured out for you, is the new covenant written in my blood. Do this in remembrance of me”. Finally He said, “As often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are remembering my death until I return”. Christians from around the world continue to commune with Jesus Christ though the regular celebration of the Lord’s Supper.
