Jesus loves people of all nations and kinds. One day Jesus was sitting alone at a well in the country of Samaria. A woman came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink” and the woman was astonished. With this simple request, Jesus broke down five barriers that separate people. First, Jesus was a man and He spoke freely to a woman. Second, Jesus was Jewish by race, yet He reached out to a despised Samaritan. Third, Jesus was a rabbi with twelve loyal followers, while the woman was poor and friendless. Fourth, Jesus was a man with high moral standards, while this woman led a loose life involving several men. Finally, Jesus rightly worshiped God in the Jewish temple, while the Samaritan woman worshipped in error on a mountaintop. Jesus crossed many boundaries to make a friend. He is our example in reaching out to others.
