Jesus continually showed compassion to the people who followed Him. One time He was teaching in a desert area. Five thousand men – with women and children – were standing and listening to His words, but they did not bring food with them to eat. Jesus saw that the people were hungry and He told His disciples to make them sit down. He asked to borrow the lunch of a small boy – one loaf of bread and two little fish. Then after giving thanks to His Heavenly Father, He miraculously multiplied the bread and fish so that everybody in the multitude ate and was satisfied. There were even twelve baskets of food left over for His disciples. We can give what little we have to Jesus and He will multiply it to help His people.
