After the reign of King David and his son, Solomon, the kingdom was divided. The words of God were spoken from the mouths of His prophets. Isaiah prophesized of a messiah that would be born of a virgin. Micah spoke of messiah coming from the town of Bethlehem. Jeremiah spoke of the slaughter of innocent babies. The prophets foretold that the anointed one would be bruised for our transgressions; a man of sorrows. The coming messiah would be a light to all nations. The prophets clearly pointed to the works and words -- the birth and death -- of Jesus Christ, who in the fullness of time would walk into history as Savior of the world.
